Domain expertise. Scientific rigor.

Since 2003, CHPR has provided Human Factors (HF) engineering, systems engineering, interface design and evaluation (UX/UI), and analysis support services. From aerospace to healthcare to road transport, CHPR is helping to develop the tools, procedures and interfaces of the 21st century. With offices in the Netherlands and the USA, and strong ties to academia, R&D, and operational domains, CHPR operates as a global network of recognized experts that together offer domain expertise, scientific rigor, and commercial pragmatism.

Some recent work areas

Display concepts for Air Traffic Management (ATM)

Evaluating operational impact of radar clutter on current day displays, prototyping of future self-separation display aids, and designing control room displays for autonomous drone operations.

Drone operations in integrated airspace

Identifying functional requirements and potential new technologies to enable integration of drone flights in non-segregated airspace, including early prototype (TRL 2) demonstrations of advanced ground-based machine learning approaches to prediction and early warning of off-nominal drone trajectories.

ATM automation functions

Conducting performance-based assessment of a functional architecture for TCAS Resolution Advisory downlinks to ATC ground stations. Developing AI based conflict detection and resolution systems.

Some methods we use

CHPR uses a variety of methods to carry out work in the areas of

  • Interface design and evaluation
  • Safety assessment including risk analysis, FHA and HAZOP
  • Analytic modelling
  • Real time simulation
  • Workload assessment
  • Experimental design, data collection and statistical analysis
  • Focus group, interview and survey research
  • Training

CHPR uses a combination of off-the-shelf and self-developed software for:

  • Behavioral data logging and analysis
  • Task analysis
  • Focus group data analysis – including transcription and text analysis
  • Non-linear mathematical modelling – via artificial neural networks
  • Multi-criteria decision making, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process
  • General statistical analysis– descriptive and inferential statistics
